Visit the 4th Annual BookFestPA from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, July 13, 2013! Celebrate the joy of reading with talented local authors, great talks by bestselling writers, and an array of book-related activities.
The BookFest Tent Highlights Great Local Authors
The lively BookFest Tent in Schlow Centre Region Library’s parking lot will host local authors, including Gale Martin, J. Kelly Poorman, John Carr, Jeffrey Frazier, Alice Breon, and Sylvia Apple, as well as Penn State Press with a sampling of their terrific writers.
New faces include Gloria Mallette, National Indie Excellence award-winning author for African American Fiction; Denise Kaminsky, children's book author of Nittany Lion Has the Hiccups; Edward Dionne, retired veterinarian and author of Warm Hearts for Cold Noses: Unusual Tails of a Young Veterinarian; and Annie Laurie Harris, author of It's Easier to Dance, a memoir of overcoming Cerebral Palsy to lead an accomplished life.
Stop by to get acquainted with all these wonderful writers and get signed copies of their books. BookFestPA speakers will also be autographing books at the BookFest Tent after their talks.

Jodi Moore – a big hit when she appeared at BookFest PA in 2011 with her humorous, imaginative When a Dragon Moves In, Jodi Moore returns this year to share her new book Good News, Nelson. An upbeat story of an unlikely friendship and the joy that comes from helping others, its hero will inspire young readers “to cheer and create some good news of their own," according to Tammi Sauer, children's author.

Annie Matsick – artist Anni Matsick’s newest book, Eat It! Food Adventures with Marco Polo, Volume One: Leaving Home, is the tale of a youngster traveling with Marco Polo’s famous expedition who discovers wondrous foods along the old Silk Road. The book highlights the fun of cooking and eating fruits and vegetables with 30 easy-to-follow recipes from Venice to the Middle East. Matsick’s expressive illustrations are as delicious as the recipes! |
