Join these treasured Pennsylvania writers as they explore nature, science, and the make believe!

Scott Weidensaul

Scott Weidensaul – Learn the real scoop on bird migration from renowned naturalist Scott Weidensaul! An active field researcher specializing in birds of prey and hummingbirds, he is a hugely popular speaker who we are thrilled to welcome to BookFest PA.
The author of more than two dozen books, including the Pulitzer Prize finalist Living on the Wind: Across the Hemisphere with Migratory Birds, Weidensaul’s work has appeared in Audubon, Smithsonian, the New York Times, Nature Conservancy, and National Wildlife. His long-running columns for the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Harrisburg Patriot-News are still much missed. He is lives in the Appalachians of eastern Pennsylvania.

Rebecca Hirsch

Rebecca Hirsch – Award-winning State College author Rebecca Hirsch uses her awesome science background to bring vivid, exciting portraits of nature, geography and the world of innovations to her young readers. She has written more than twenty books for children, including Arctic Tern Migration, a Junior Library Guild Selection. She lives with her husband and three children in State College, Pennsylvania.

Rebecca Thornburgh

Rebecca Thornburgh – At the age of seven Rebecca Thornburgh announced at the dinner table that she was going to be a bookmaker when she grew up. Talk about prophetic - she has gone on to illustrate more than 100 books! Her passion for reading as well as drawing is reflected in some of her favorite titles, including Lewis the Librarian and The Shelf Elf. A native of Hollidaysburg, PA, she now lives in a spooky Victorian house in Philadelphia with her husband, children, pets and lively imagination.
